In 1991 the Governments of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of the Philippines signed a Memorandum of Agreement that jointly promote the establishment of a Rural Telecommunication Network in Camiguin Province with a view to providing the population with local, national and international communications.
The Federal Republic of Germany gave a grant worth P50M of the Philippines a rural telephone system which was to be installed in Camiguin Province. Meantime in Camiguin, the local Government unit envisioned a Cooperative to own, operate and maintain the said telephone system and in April 10, 1991 a cooperative was formed and was registered with Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) with its name as Camiguin Telephone Cooperative (CAMTECO).more ...
